GREAT NEWS!
Coming Home of Middlesex County (CHM), in partnership with the Perth Amboy YMCA, is proud to learn we are being honored by the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey (HCDNNJ) with an Outstanding Project Award for Innovation in affordable housing development and design. https://www.hcdnnj.org/under1roofhonorees

This project, built with funds from the Middlesex County Housing First Capital Fund (HFCF), and the NJ Department of Community Affairs’ National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF), provides two 2-bedroom units of permanent supportive housing for two vulnerable Middlesex County families formerly experiencing homelessness. The project was constructed using Passive House Design, which has the highest level of energy efficiency, in-door air quality, and lowest emissions available in the development industry. The project received design certification from the Passive House Institute of the United States (PHIUS). This is the first affordable housing passive-house certified project in Middlesex County.
CHM makes every effort to create a building and design team using local partners, ensuring County and State development funds create local jobs and remain in our local economy. We are delighted to receive recognition for this project, and to know it will run with significantly reduced energy costs, ensuring its longevity during a time of deep uncertainty in the affordable housing industry.
Thank you to the Middlesex County Administration and Commissioners, the Housing Production Team at the NJ Department of Community Affairs, and all the local partners who support the incredibly important work we do.
